Hey guys, I'm racing again this year. I'll be racing in a Mallock Mk20b. It's a 1979 Clubmans car. It's a little rocket, weighing 560Kg including me and with about 180Bhp capable of pulling just over 2G in the corners. The club races under the Historic Sports Car Club, the events on the day vary but there are lots of great races and cars to see.

18TH JUNE - CADWELL PARK

28TH AUG - OULTON PARK
23RD SEPT - SNETTERTON
21ST OCT - SILVERSTONE FINALS

Shout if you want to meet up, I may be able to get you a ticket.

Is the races going to be streamed on TV or some website?

Would love to visit you at Silverstone :) If I can stay over the weekend I would be up to, hopefully, the flight isn't that expensive!

This is shocking. I've just been sent a recording of @Puffpirat trying to turn up to one of Ramiboo's events with a helmet badly painted to look like Ramiboo's. Were it not for the quick-wittedness of the organisers, who knows what chaos Puffy might have caused. I warn you, this recording is shocking*

Unfortunately not, my time as a motors TV legend were over back in 2008. :(

I'll try to hook up an onboard camera though and post the video here.

No, this one

a mere 18 litres :D. The bottle to the right is a standard 750ml bottle of wine (I took that photo by the way. I would like to say I took the bottle but, well, it wasn't very nice even by the glass, let alone 18 litres of it)

The one I posted is 18L too for a mere £3.800

Sorry to clutter your thread @ramiboo :( but Cluck forced me to do it. :p

Qualified in 3rd this morning, should have been 2nd but my last lap was not included as the session was red flagged to clear a car from the barriers. I've not got a chance for the win, but I'll get my head down and see if there's some pressure I can apply. The first race is at 12:15 UTC and the second at 15:30 UTC.

Ok, well that didn't go to plan. I got a great start, got into the lead and was 5 seconds clear at the end of the first lap. Managed to get round the first corner of the second lap and the engine let go again! Another DNF on the books for 2017. Same problem as last time, it seems that cylinder 2 is running lean and burnt itself out again. :(

Back for another engine rebuild.......

That's unfortunate. Just out of curiosity, how did you conclude the cylinder 2 'ran lean'?
I remember the spark plug get an unusual color, but also that blowing an engine that way takes quite a long time...

Well, the plug was a lighter colour, and so was the soot build up in the exhaust a lighter colour than the others. This meant the cylinder was running too hot and it started to melt the aluminium piston and the earth at the end of the spark plug had also melted off. :confused:

Motorsport isn't just dangerous, it's EXPENSIVE! :shifty:

Race = £295
Race Fuel = £50
Road Fuel = £65
Coolant = £30
Piston = £100
New Plugs = £30
Head machining = £100
Block Honing = £50
Rolling Road = £90

That's excluding the labour and personal time....... SIM Racing is much better value. :D

PM me closer the time, I've normally got a couple spare, and can probably swipe a couple of other on the day. Kids under 12 are free.

Can't argue with that. You can race as much as you want, any car you want, anywhere, anytime, and you don't take any physical risk, except maybe blisters :p
