Soon to receive my Fanatec order to replace my Logitech G29 (wheel/wheel base/pedals/brake performance kit).
I ordered the Formula V2 wheel and the amount of buttons on the wheel got me stressed out already :wideyed:;).

In VR it's even more difficult to select the right button, and easy to make a mistake. Some buttons might be risky for some functions, or touched incidentally while racing.

I would like to know which button I should assign to what function to have a good VR experience?

I'm sure there are more than 1 RSR members who have a lot of experience with this kind of wheel in VR who can give me some advice :smug:
Or maybe already have a useful 'button mapping chart' available

Help much appreciated.

I'm not playing PCARS anymore, but I can tell you my mapping in iRacing if it helps you:

1. Navigation, selecting, increasing and decreasing (with the wheel) options in the black box
2. Not used yet, I don't know what to use this "Joystick" for
3. Exiting car (opening menu)
4. Ignition
5. Starter
6. Pit limiter
7. Increase/Decrease volume (ingame voice chat)
8. Look left
9. DRS
10. Push to talk (ingame voice chat)
11. Say "Sorry" in text chat
12. Say "Thank you" :D
13. Increase Brake balance
14. Decrease Brake balance
15. Flash lights
16. Not used yet
17. Look right
18. HYS Boost (LMP1 cars)
19. Mute/Unmute in Teamspeak
20. Gear Down
21. Gear Up
22. Increase/Decrease ABS set
23. Increase/Decrease Traction control set
24. Not used yet (I guess that one changes something in the fanatec software setting)

This reminds me of @Cluck at bathurst race in pc1 :D

If the options exist in a game, I try to use the same buttons. You can obviously choose which up/down function should be on which rotary. in ACC and iRacing you can use 22 and 23 to directly set a TC level for example.

1. Pit menu on POV, brake bias on rotation
2. unused
3. Reset VR
4. Reset car
5. unused
6. Pit limiter
7. TC level
8. KERS
9. Switch Dash/HUD
10. Switch Dash/HUD
11. TS Mic toggle
12. TS Sound toggle
13. Ignition
14. Starter
15. flash lights
16. engine map/MGU in AC
17. DRS
18. Lights
19. Wipers
20. Gear Down
21. Gear Up
22. TC in ACC
23. ABS in ACC
24. Dual Clutch mode (only usable if you have the Podium Shifter upgrade (P APM))

Thanks for posting! I will put all collected info in one sheet (driver, VR/Non-VR, game + button assignments), so at some moment we should have the close to perfect button assignment mapping chart for the Fanatec wheels with this button lay-out :smug: .... will update here somewhere end September, early October.

nice job!! just 1 thing to point out, i dont use VR but the idea is the same for not having to look at the buttons. As a further Note: i also have the flag lights working for all games which is really useful for those not in VR
Post automatically merged:

but also really interesting to see how we all use the buttons for different things with the exception of a few.

amazing thanks - I like the way you think ;). I have the added benefit of the little button box I put together a while back. So Ignition and engine start have a missle switch and nice starter. I'm now thinking in general that box should have the "important, but sure hope I don't need to use it" buttons, such as "reset car, reset VR, keeping the wheel free for other functions. WIth this rim and the APM it's a ridiculous number of buttons. I do find it funny how important flash lights obvously is as it seems to be on a key button for a lot :D
