Guys,

I need any kind of suggestion from the Brits here on how to deal with the problems i have in my internet.

I tried to install virgin media...but after a month of 'we need to do some work on your street but we need a council approval' and now that they just called me today stating it would take 4 to 6 weeks more i just gave up.

Now....the problem i'm having.

My address is as follows:

Flat 1, 19A, Street Name...
In my building there is also a Flat 2, 3 and 4.

The problem is that when i put my post code on the providers MY flat address does not exist, there is a Flat 2, 3 and 4 addresses but no Flat 1. I can see however a clear mistake on the addresses because there is one as follows:

Flat 19A, 1, Street Name.

Because of this i am unable to subscrive a service, and those providers who say they can it's only 10 to 20Mbit because there is no line installed bla bla bla.....

If i select the Flat 19A, 1, which i believe to be my flat but written down wrongly, i get the usual top of the line services possible, but no one can subscribe me one because it's not my address....

They told me to contact openreach, and i already have a number to contact tomorrow (offices closed down today)

Is there anything else that i can do? Does anyone here work in openreach or knows something on what to do on this scenarios?

I'm getting beyond desperate, and i moved home a month ago and i can't still see internet in the horizon....I live in freakin London not God-knows-where-ville.

If you can get in touch with Virgin Media again i have been with then from when they got fiber optic & in the 15yrs been with them only had 4 problems & 2 of them could be fixed by sending something along the cable. I know people that have Openreach BT & they speed does not even come close to what they offer while i have 100mbps package & speed i get is over 100 its normally around 104/107mbps. If you ring then they will be able to find the new address & tell then its a NEW BUILD If they is other people in the Flats try asking them if they are getting Internet then you can say to Virgin that the whole building needs internet will 4 new customers. Normally they are very good at getting the service up & running but could be down to the local council if they dont let them dig up the road to lay the cables.

Also use your Bank Statements & other ID from that Address to show then that you live there if only just moved in & New Build the Credit Companies have nothing to check on with the background of building so that can be a problem at the start has well.

Hope you get your internet soon.

Don’t know if this might help

https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/update-your-address/

We had to do something like this when we moved into a new build. The address didn’t exist at the time.

Mark maybe right on this as sometimes when an address is registered as a set of flats (House 19A flats 1, 2, 3, 4 etc) the melons at the registry take the "19A" as being "flat 1" and leave flat 1 off the land registration.

That won't be a quick fix as you will have to get Council confirmation that your "flat 1" is actually registered as "19A flat 1", must be for them to claim their council tax off you.

I take it this is a rented one and not owned by you?

The problem with this is they may have it down as a single property - 19A - and the council tax charge would go to the landlord who charges you through the rent price.

If it is then you will have to check that the owner/landlord has registered correctly that their property has been converted to flats 1, 2, 3...etc.

Reading a bit more into what you have described as being on the providers website, the website is showing your address as "Flat 19A, 1" ? which is wrong and should be "19A, Flat 1".
This is looking like a registering error (most likely from unlegible hand writing/confusion/lack of ability to ASK QUESTIONS!!!!) or the providers website, which all tend to read from a central data base of address lists, is miss reading the data for your flat.

Get the confirmation from the Council that "Flat 19A, 1" is actually your "19A, Flat 1" then you can prove to openreach or any provider that it IS your address.

It only takes one numpty in the chain from paperwork to digital entry to mess this stuff up, and theres a great lack of QA nowerdays, makes me feel shamed I have to work in the same industry.

I hope you find a fix Druqs.

Guys thank you very much for your replies.

After calls to BT / Vodafone (the provided i want to install) and OpenReach who advised me to ask them to do a 'manual order' or ask the service on the 'wrong address', the Flat 19A, 1, because the service would go to my home, somehow on Vodafone after almost losing my voice explaining the same thing over and over...that this is an address mistake, somehow, at Vodafone they managed to subscribe me a service at my correct address Flat 1, 19A.

My address is correct everywhere else, i had no trouble with utilities/council tax and everything is up and running on that side. It's that the providers they all use the same OpenReach address table and someone basically f***** up when the property was redeveloped and did not have the attention span to verify that if Flat 2 Flat 3 and Flat 4 exist on door 19A, clearly Flat 19A on door 1 is a mistake and should be Flat 1, door 19A.

Anyway, to make sure everything is OK, and at Vodafone suggestion, i will have an OpenReach engie come up on activation day. I payed 60 quid for this, but to be honest i don't care as long as i have internet.
Now...i made the stupid mistake of sheduling to 1PM - 6PM on a day that i am arriving at Gatwick at 12:10 and i take 1h30 to get home........so had to call them today to re-arrange the date...hopefully everything will come up well with that to.
