It does that a lot, part of their 10 year old website issue-list.
Best to check the race now option up top to see when registration is open or not.

Especially the longer series appear to have a 'ghost' race registration whilst that is actually the race being finished.

I've been looking into iRacing for some time now and atm I see that there is 40% off.. This is probably quite good deal to jump in isnt it?

Also, what is the best way to start in iRacing? Some roookie leagues, single races..? Which car is the one to go?

Tnx.

Depends what you really like and how quick you get along with the sim.

You start with a rookie licence, which means you can only do the Mazda MX5 races and the key is safety. Don't worry about winning / losing the race, just focus on not getting offtracks and contacts with other drivers.
After that you slowly build up to what you like driving. The GT side of iRacing is buzzing with GT3 going official 24/7 and GTE being busy in IMSA and LMS (track dependant).

Once you have to start purchasing content (GT-cars & tracks) focus on getting 1 car per series and just invest in tracks. Drive 8 tracks per season (12 weeks) and you get some money (max $10 per season) from iRacing to spend on other content (cars, tracks, membership)

man that 40% offer looks tempting. Wow I did not realise that steam charged a hell of a mark up on the iRacing website price.

$66 on the site for a year's membership seems like a pretty decent deal. That's getting close to buying the latest version of a game each year (sure, you still need to buy other cars... :( )

Had a try on Blancpain VRS GT Sprint this week. Migrated our 2017S3's 488 GTE setup onto the GT3 counterpart, and it worked pretty well despite slide a lot when pushing and have a slightly worse fuel economy than VRS' paid setup.
Bottom split, qualified 12th and ended up in 6th place

so this is how the last-ever run of my 488 GT3 at IMSA series ended......
hope iRacing got rid of that 6-model limit, so we can have more models running in Multi-class races

@1185323118 wont happen for a while sadly. There’s different factors as to why and too long to explain. Maybe within a years time or so. Right now iRacing has been in the process of replacing a lot of the core systems in their decades old engine. Graphical update, Damage model, xaudio2 system, are all being worked on. All this with day and night being added for S1 2019 most likely. Once those are completed we may see more the limit increased again. But they are coming up on the limits of acceptable performance. One of the drawback of them designing their engine just to use 2 core CPU.

It also was mentioned that the current way of showing your cars livery is another factor as to why the limit is so low. It takes a lot of resources to show 55 unique player liveries with the constraints of the memory system of iRacing. Hopefully they are working on optimizing this as well.

Can we expect to see some RSR flavoured cars out at Belle Isle? It’s a very interesting track to learn.
