My Rig has decide to become a bit theatrical and wanted to audition for the upcoming Xmas pantomime season. Being the supportive owner I thought we should invest in some plastic surgery so that it can full fill it's life long dream to take centre stage alongside Master Antonio.

Admitidly It's a bit of an overkill, but the high res encoder option that's now supported with the recently released Simcube firmware is still in the early stages and not many solutions are available yet, give it a month or so and there will be cheaper Chinese encoder options available more readily.

But i'm happier with some solid German engineering

Next stop some pedals

@2scoops In a nutshell it gives you 3.7million points of resolution. That produces a even more smoother feeling when you drive. Compare that to the normal 40,000 encoder that comes in the Mige and it's a noticeable difference.
@Bassetts found out I got one and so he didn't want to be left behind lol.

Have to love technology, a guy in the us on the granity community forums designed a cover for the Heidenhain ERN encoder, sent me the file and using 3Dhubs I found someone 4 miles away that printed it next day for me

I feel you, I've almost lost the will to live with this lot, lol,

However there are a couple of things you can do to make it easier.

On cables that away stay together you can get cable braiding and combine them all together (you might see that the 2 USB from the OSW controller) in the picture below use this method (grey cable)

For stuff that's more fluid you can get some velcro based sleeve that you can open and close back up as cables need to come out and be relocated, These are my preference for large mass of cables, originally most of my cables used the sleeving
method, but once you change your configuration it's a pain to redo.

Also, a roll of velcro as linked below is pretty good to, you can just use bits of that keep cable together on the same path.

Failing that good old tie-wraps are a cheep way to do it too, but just a pain when you have to cut them off, and on the extreme budget end just by a roll of electrical tape and wrap it round the cables

Well, got a bit bored over the xmas break and thought lets have a go at some woodworking (not my strong point) and make a rack out of MDF and carbon wrap it.

Firstly I managed to get it assembled straight and even, which for me was an achievement.

After lots of filling, sanding and application of undercoat the carbon wrap was ready to be applied, i've never used the stuff before but it actually went on quite well and I'm pretty happy with the end result.

Next step was the painful task of transferring all the equipment into the new rack and connecting everything up, but it went together quite, add in some custom modified 4U rack shelves to accommodate the huge Noctua nh-d15 that's attached to the the i7-8700k and the SimuCUBE and it's looking pretty good.

It almost feels like this project is actually getting close to the end now and the man cave is almost complete. Just waiting on the HPP 3P-PRX-SE's to be built and shipped now and I think that should cap it off nicely

Out of all the rigs, that whiteboard is actually super usefull.. need to look at implementing it later on

Was actually brother in laws idea. It's a simple cheap magnetic one from local stationary store. I use it as the target jot pad I use for flying missions in Falcon BMS, scribble a quick sketch of the mission area in the big white patch marking up locations etc and then jot down the grid coordinates of mission specific targets in the grid at the bottom. Also great for quick notes during meetings.

Its held on by a magnetic catch drilled onto the rear of the frame.
